NEW NAVY FOR FRANCE.
TWENTY-YEAR PROGRAMME. 65,000 TONS OF SUBMARINES. A. and N.Z. PARIS. Feb. 13. The Minister for Marine is contemplating a new naval programme to cover 20 vears and provide a total tonnage of 700,000, of which 65,000 tons will be submarines and 60,000 tons aeroplane carriers. . ■ a' ' ■ During tho first year only light vessels will be built, comprising six cruisers, 35 destroyers, and 34 submarines. An appropriation of 2,400,000,000 francs will be made, and spent in eight annual instalments of 300,000,000 franca.
