ENGLISH CRICKETERS.
MATCH AGAINST AUCKLAND. COMMENCING ON SATURDAY. VISITORS ARRIVE TO-MORROW The final match of the English cricket team's tour of New Zealand will be i played against Auckland at Eden Park, ' commencing on Saturday. The match will be a three days' contest. Play will commence at 11 a.m., and the luncheon adjournment will be taken at one o'clock, play being resumed at 1.45. The afternoon tea, adjournment will be taken at 4 o'clock, play resuming at 4.15, continuing to 6 p.m., when stumps wfll be drawn for the day. The members of the English team are at present sight-seeing at Botorua, arid are due.to arrive at Auckland to-morrow afternoon. They will be met by the officials of the Auckland Cricket Association, and driven to the Grand Hotel, where they will stay during the visit to Auckland. , Mr. A. C. MacLnren, captain of the M.C.C. team, and Mr. A.. C. Wilkinson will not be available for the match, as with Mr. H. D. Swan, manager, they will leave for Sydney by the Niagara on Saturday. The remaining members of the team will sail for Sydney by the Ulimaroa on Saturday, February 24. Mr. ' Hartley, vice-captain of the' English eleven, will captain , the team in tho match. :"»'. ';."'' The invitation from the Auckland Association to Scholium, of Gisborne, to practice with a. view to his selection in the Auckland team -against- the English eleven,' elicited a reply to the effect that he had not been taking taking cricket seriously this season, and therefore was not available. ,
MATCH WITH ROTORUA AN EXHIBITION GAME[BY TELEGRAPH. ASSOCIATION.] EOTOEUA. Wednesaay. The match, Rotorua versus M.C.C., played this afternoon, was drawn. Rotorua batted first and closed their innings with . six wickets down for 110. The Englishmen played out time, and had lost eight • wickets for 184. The game was practically an exhibition of batting.
