BREACHES OF THE BY-LAWS. STREET TRAFFIC REGULATION. A short sitting of the Po l i<-e Court was heM yesterday, Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., presiding. With the exception of a number of ,by-law cases, remands were granted in each instance. . For having driven their motor-cars past stationary tramcnrs Norman Mitchell and Leslie James McPike were each fined £3 and costs, and Dorothy Brookfield Wi* fined' £1 and costs. A taxi-driver. J. H. Hooton, was fined £1 and costs £2 8s for havng failed *"> obey the directions of * a/Harbour Board traffic inspector on the Kind's Whnrf. A university lecturer's """misadventure when accompanying a pirty of students to Waitakerei to gather specimens, lost December was related when T. L. Lan.caster, (Mr. Cocker) was charged with having, boarded a moving train at Mount Eden station: In pleading guilty on. behalf of defendant, who did riot appear, counsel said that defendant had left his carriage and was walking abng the platform to see if all the students were on board when the train star-tad to move. He immediately stepped on to the platform of the nearest carriage, but vn.'ortunatelv stepped into the arms of a railway official. Defendant was fined 10s and costs. ' '■ ''■.'■'{'■
TWO CASES REMINDED. Gustav Henry Hansen, 22, was charged with having broken and entered the warehouse of the National Trading Company about February, 11 and having Stolen a quantity of cigarettes, tobacco, and goods of a total value oj £20. He was remanded till next Thursdiy. Joe Hall, a Maori aged 17, appeared on a charge o* having stolen a neck chain and pendant, brooch, silk shirt, fountain pen, razor, and ss, of a total value of £7, from the dwelling of William Vipond, and was remanded till Monday.
