LONDON SALES CLOSE FIRMLY
RECOVERY OF MERINOS.

The wool sales closed firm, Continental Merinos having recovered practically the whole of the decline cabled last week. Best sorts are now on a par with the opening rates. Faulties are on a par to 5 per cent, decline. Yorkshire sorts, which were comparatively scarce, were well supported throughout the series at full opening rates.
More stylish crossbreds met with a good demand from the United States and fully firm. Average crossbreds underwent no change. Scoureds and slipes were in' excellent demand and prices were unchanged.
A fair average selection of Merino lambs' wool, mostly carbonising sorts, sold extremely well at par to 5 per cent, above the opening rates.
It is estimated that the withdrawals amounted to about 15 per cent. New Zealand lambs', T. 8.5., Canterbury, clip realised 2s 3d. , •-*"
