REMARKABLE FORTITUDE.
: Suffering agony, with his left hand blown off in a detonator explosion, a lad of 16, Louis Stevenson, walked a mile to his nearest neighbour, and calmly announced that he had met with a "bit of an accident," writes the ■: Rockhampton correspondent of d Sydney paper. Tho. lad was alone on Mr. Mick Enright's farm at Walmul, 11 miles from Mount Morgan, and was scraping sawdust out of a* detonator with a horseshoe nail, when suddenly there was a terrific exSlosion, and* he was hurled some distance, [e was stunned, and on coming to found that his left hand had been blown' off at the wrist, and blood was pouring from the wound. His shirt bad been torn off, and he had lacerated wounds on the chest,' lower parts of tho body and face,, and also punctured wounds on the right arm and hand.. V•
The injured youth walked to the nearest neighbour's, a mile distant, and on arrival there casually remarked that he had met with; a "bit of an accident." Here he received medical attention, and'the ambiK lance car took him to the Mount Morgan Hospital. , J All through, he displayed wonderful fortitude, appearing ,to worry, less about his injuries than either the doctor or nurses.
