AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS.

REVENUE DURING HOLIDAYS. INCREASE OVER LAST YEAR. A SINGLE DAY RECORD. The compilation of the results of the Auckland tramway traffic during tho Christmas and New Year holiday period has been completed. The figures show that the , indifferent weather experienced on several days adversely affected the receipts, but nevertheless the previous record for an individual day's takings was broken, and tho total cash receipts for the 14 days ended January 4 exceeded those for the corresponding period of last year by £950. , The cash receipts for Friday, December 22 (the late-shopping night) amounted to £1753, and constitute a record for a single day, being £182 in excess of the amount taken on the corresponding day of last season. The next best day's takings for this season -were £1467 and £1453 for Friday and Saturday, December 29 and 30, respectively. Saturday, December 23, and Monday, January 1, which were both wet or showery, were the only days on which the receipts for the present season were lower than those on the corresponding days last season. The receipts for Boxing Day were £1344, and for New Year's Day £1137, which compare with £1306 and £1318 respectively in the previous , season. All the amounts stated are cash takings, the fares paid by concession tickots not being taken into account.
