UNUSED CANTONMENTS. TROOPS KEPT TO HUTS. United Service. LONDON. Dec. 25. Mr. J. M. N. Jeffries, the Near Eastern correspondent of the Daily Mail, instancing the blunders of the administration in Palestine, says that British gendarmerie ars living near Surafend in "battered wretched Nissen hu-ts, while on the hill overlooking tha camp stand 70 or 80 of the latest cantonments, elegantly painted, with sasbc-d windows. They cost thousands of pounds, but are all unoccupied. Officers and non-commis-sioned officers are httle better housed. The drainage at tho camp is bad, and officers going to mess in rainy weather have to plough through streams by the aid of electric torches. *■■■■■ 1 111 ———i
