AUCKLAND GUN CLUB.
The Auckland Gun Club's Christmas shoot was held at Ellcrslie yesterday. There was a large attendance of members and frionds. The first sweepstake was divided by L. P. Hughes (32yds), A. Dobson (32yds). J. Williamson (20yds), F. Curtis (26yds), C. Rao (25yds), with the possible of fioven kills. Thero were 20 entries. The club championship of 12 birds, all of 28yds. was won by L. P. Hughes, with the pOMibls of 12. A. Dobson, F. J. Rayner and L. Webb (Whangarei), tied for eecond place with 10 kills. A seven-bird match was dmded by 1... P. Hughes (33yds), J. Mains (23yds). and C. Rae (23ydB). all with seven kills. The novice handicap was, won by A. Julian, with six out of eeven kills. Mr. L. P. Hushes, who flhot the possible of 26 birds on the day, holds the Dewar Silver Pigeon for 12 months, and receives a trophy from the c 'ub. A pleasing feature was the excellent shooting of Master W. Ryan, who i fl nrohably the youngest trap-shooter in Now Zealand. He ehowed most promising form.
