Tne supplementary 10 per cent street improvement loan has been received^ by the Birkenhead Borough Council from the State Advances Office. The general account had advanced 3 the payments for the works as completed, and this account will now. bo recouped lo the extent of the £1500 received from the department. ONE TREE HTLL ROAD BOARD. A meeting of the One Tree Kill Road Board was held last evening.. Those present weref Mr R. G..Clark (chairman), Messrs. T F.owe, C. Macintosh. C, Purchaa. H. H. Chvton. and J. Patterson. , The Question of the reduction of workmen s wages under the award was discussed, and it was agreed that the 3s reduction should be operative from December 15. The engineer, in his report, gave particulars of the service that had been rendered to the Onehunga Borough Council when the pumps at the Onehunga pumping station recently broke down. The chairman, in referring to the matter, said tho position in regard to Onehunua's water . supply had been acute, and after consulting with Mr. Dawson, it was decided to do what tliey could to help. Three shifts were accordingly put on on Sunday .morning, and they pumped 368.000 gallons in 24 hours. A letter from the Aucidand Taxi Owners Association was read, asking that the potholes" in the Great South Road, between the Harp of Erin and Green Lane, be filled in. Tho board's decision was that as the road was now in course of reconstruction, it could not do anything in the matter. I MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD. ! A meeting of the Mount Roskill Road 1 Board was held on Tuesday. Mr. <-r. Dawson should ascertain the boundary of tho Mount Roskill district, near the Royal Oak, aa there 18 a difference of opinion with the Onohunga JtJorough Council on the question.
