A message from Sault Sainto Marie, Michigan, states that it is believed that 29 were drowned by the sinking of the tug Reliance in Lake Superior last Wednesday. Soven survivors reached port In n small boat after terrifying experiences in a blizzard. They were blown ashore n a lonely part of the Canadian wilds, and suffered terribly from cold and hunger before they managed to reach tho railway. The captain's wife was among the survivors. A later wireless message reports that two tugs picked up 23 survivors of the Reliance, including the captain. SHIP SINKS IN MERSEY. WRECKED BY ANCHOR CHAIN. 10 OF CREW DROWNED. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Dec. 18. The steamer Srnerdis fouled the anchor chain of tho City of London in the Mersey. Tho chain tore a great hole in the Smcrdis, which sank in two minutes. Ten out of the crew of 18 were drowned, some who were below never reaching the deck.
