Au.tralian and N.Z. Cable Associate. (Reed. 9.25 P.m.) LONDON Dec 18. Ilia Federation of British Industries has submitted a manifesto to Mr. Bonar Law suggesting that the Government could assist the restoration of trade by the following means: Abolition of the corporation profits tax, substantial reduction of the income tax, and some remission of indirect taxation. Immediate reduction of Government expenditure and reconsideration of the Gcddec Committee's recommendations. Initiation of an inquiry into the whole question of education with a view to reduction of administration costs. Abandonment without delay of competition by Government institutions against private traders. The manifesto adds that the utmost attention should bo given to the development of inter-Imperial trade, which is so important. The federation proposes shortly to make separate representations for energetio action before foreign postwar tarhTs Decome crystallised. It further advocates improved postal facilities and an unrestricted half-penny printed paper rate, and urges that all Governmental purchases should give maximum employment to British labour.
