MOTOR-CAR BANDITS.
BOLD RAID IN DENVER.
£40,000 OF CURRENCY SEIZED.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed- 7.30 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 18. Seven bandits held up a Federal Reserve Bank motor-car in front of the United States mint at Denver, Colorado, and escaped with 200,000 dollars of currency. The bandits drew up in a closed car just as the bank car was leaving the mint. Covering the bank car driver and guard with shotguns and revolvers, the robbers transferred the money to then* own car. The guards of the mint opened fire on the bajidits, who, daringly standing at the kerb, fired fusilade after fusilade, breaking tho mint windows and riddling the doors. The employees inside the mint rushed to tho windows and opened fire in support of the guards Suddenly the bandits sped away amid a hail o'f shot*. The bank car driver and one guard were wounded.
