REMUERA POST OFFICE.
CLOCK TO BE INSTALLED.
The advisability of having a clock placed on the tower of the post at the corner of Remuera Road and Victoria Avenue has for some time past been in the minds of Remuera residents. On Monday a meeting of residents was held in the Methodist schoolroom, Clonbern Road, to consider what action should be taken in the matter. The meeting was convened by Mr. J. S. Dickson, M.P. for Parnell, and Mr. R. N. Holdsworth. The former, who presided, explained that the Government was willing to increase the height of the post office tower by 10ft., which was estimated to cost about £160. That would be done provided residents found the £300 needed to provide the clock. It was stated that the City Council was prepared to look alfter tbe clock once it waß in position. The meeting decided to raise the £300, and collectors are to wait upon residents after the vacation.
