Rear-Admiral H. F. I\ Sinclair, chief of tho Submarine Service, unveiled a memorial in Temple Gardens to officers and man who lost their lives in the submarine service. Tho number killed in the submarine service was greater in proportion to strength than in any other branch of the fighting forces. One hundred and thirty-eight officers and 1225 men, including many gallant merchant sailors who volunteered, lost their lives, representing one-third of tho total submarine service. Tho number of submarines lost was 53.
