POLISH ASSASSINATION.
NEW PRESIDENT KILLED.
SHOT AT ART EXHIBITION.
MARTIAL LAW PROCLAIMED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 4.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. WARSAW, Dec. IG. M. Noratowicsz, Hie newly-elected President, of Poland, was assassinated today.
An. artist named Nivradomski fired three revolver shots at, M. Narotowicsz, who was inspecting an exhibition of pictures.
The Cabinet immediately met and proclaimed martial law throughout the country. It is believed that Nivradomski is mentally unbalanced.-
The election of M. Narotowicsz to the Presidency of Poland followed the general election in November, which resulted in tho defeat of the parties supporting Marshal Pilsudski, tho preceding President. Indication of the acute state of political feeling in Warsaw was given in a recent, cablegram, which stated that, the new President had to be protected by guards from tho assaults of demonstrators on making a public appearance. M. Narotowicsz was a successful engineer.
