LOAN AND MERCANTILE. DIVIDEND ANNOUNCED. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantila Agency Company, Ixd.. has received a cablegram from iti hmud office in London adviainsr that at the iinnnnl maetinc, held on December 14, a fuial dividend was declarcvi for tho year ended Juno 30, 1922, at the rate of 21 per cent, (less English income tax at 3s 5d in the £). on the S per r«rit. cumulative preference stock, and a dividend at the rate oi 2 per cent, (freo of English income tax) on the ordinary stock. A notice to Now Zealand stockholders regarding payment of tho dividends is advertised.
BUTTER AND CHEESE. Messrs. Dalfiety and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following cablegram from their London office under date of December 14:— Butter.—The total imports of butter into tho United Kingdom lor November wcro 327,000cwt„ and for tho corresponding period Inst year 22(5.000cwt. Tho market iB quie:t. We quote: New Zealand butter, salted, at 182s; Danish. 210s: Australian g.i q,. 170 a; finest Australian, salted 17Ss, unsalted 178s. Tho rise is due to requirements for Christmas. Heavy arrivals in the near future are expected and lower prices probably will have to be accepted. Cheese.-—The market is steady. CANTERBURY FROZEN MEAT CO.
The 41st annual meeting: of the Canterbury Frozen Moat and Dairy Produce Export Company, Ltd., was held in Christchurch last week. The directors' repqrt showed that the net profit for tho year was £31,'22G 10s fid. which with the amount brought forward from last year, made the amount at credit of profit and loss account £36,752 Of sd. Out of this, further additions hovo been itiJidft to the various reserve fund 3, and after such apportionments. and deducting tho dividend paid at tho half-year, there remains ft sum of £19,857 19s, which tho directors proposed should bo dealt with as follows:—To payment of a further dividend of 3 per cent, on tho preferenco. and 6 per cent, on tho ordinary shares. £3750; to payment of a bonus of 4 per cent, on ordinary shares, £4500; to carry forward. £sbC<7 19s. Sir George Clifford, the chairman, said the year had not passed without disturbance. as labour troubles, unwisely fomented, interfered materially wit™ the ordinary current of their work. , , , The report and balance-sheet were adopted.
CLAUDELANDS STOCK SALE. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:—At Claudelande Bale on Thursday, December 14. wo had a good yarding of cattle and a fair supply of sheep and pigs. Beef met with, excellent competion and all lots submitted were cleared. Steers made to £7 5s for medium weights, light-weights £5 12s to £G ss. Fat cows reached. £<? for well-fatted cattle from the Government farm, light-weight £3 14s to £4 sb. Fresh cows made from £2 4s to £3 lie, store cows £1 5s to £1 15s. Store stock generally hardly reached late rates, although fair competition was mot with up to a QGTtnin stage. Two-year steers made to £219 a, good 18-months steers were passed in at £2 17» -6d. 15-months steers (fair quality) made from £2 12s to £2 14s heifers same ago from £2 2s to £3 ss. Sheep ware in good demand, small fat wethers making to 28s Id well-fatted ewes 2Gs. mixed twotooths 22a to 245. Pigs: Baconnrs made to £2 17s. porkers from 35s to £2 Bs, slips from 18s to £1 7s. weaners from 5b to 13s. PROPERTY SALES.
