AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.
VISITOR TO HOSPITALS.
QUESTION OF APPOINTMENT. The Auckland Presbytery met at St.
David's Hall last evening, the moderator, the Rev. C. J. Tocker, presiding over a fair attendance. Reference to the fact that the newly-constituted Bay of Plenty Presbytery met for the first time yesterday was made by the moderator, who said he had sent a congratulatory telegram to the new presbytery and had received a reply reciprocating the good wishes. The Presbyterian Social Service Association notified that the Rev. D. G. Albert had resigned the position of visitor to the hospital, and intimated that it had been agreed to ask the presbytery to relieve the association of responsibility for the work. Mr. Albert, who was present, said his resignation would not take effect until the end of the year. He said the position was a difficult one and it was not sufficient that a Presbyterian minister should visit the hospital on only two afternoons a week. It was not sufficient merely to visit Presbyterians and he would not pass by the bed of a sufferer no matter what bis creed. Mr. Albert suggested that a man and a woman should os appointed for the work. It was decided that the matter be referred to a committee to confer with the Presbyterian Social Service Association. Plans for the Mount Albert manse were referred to the Finance Committee, with power to act. > The fvrit • deaconess of St. Stephen's Church, Miss B. Calder, will bo ordained on January 11.
