Liverpool police made seizures of arms on r>hips bound for South of Ireland ports.

Tho seizures included many thousands of rounds of rifle and revolver ammunition and ball cartridges, also a large quantity of chemicals used in the manufacture of high explosives. The arms were hidden under a layer of kegs labelled " putty." Twelvo casks of chemicals were labelled " soda." A quantity of ammunition was also found in another Southern Irish vessel concealed in a cargo of fodder.
