TREATMENT OF DEGENERATES.
Sir, —May I beg space to express my* hearty approval of the suggestion madq by Dr. Fenwick. of Christchurch, re de« generates, especially the treatment of those creatures guilty of offences against little: children. We mothers of little ones ar«j disgusted at the leniency of sentences, passed on the wretches guilty of violating helpless children. We country mothers cannot too strongly condemn the practice sometimes adopted of sending these drunken debased humans into the country with a warning to stay there. We do not want them. The majority of country children have to ride miles to school along lonely roads, and it is a dreadful thought to parents that their dear wee mites may be at the mercy of these human vultures. Let the Government give the women the opportunity of voting en this subject and the doctors will soon find that the legal power lot' such operations is theirs, and it is eafo to say that this class of crime would cease, M.J.A.
