FATALITY AT CHELSEA.

DEATH OF ELDERLY WORKER

STRUCK BY FALLING SACKS

A fatal accident occurred at the Colonial Sugar Company's refinery at Chelsea yesterday morning. Mr. Richard Pooley, aged 65 years, who was employed as a floor walker, was accidentally struck by a falling pile o( sacks filled with sugar, sustaining a fractured leg and internal in'juries. He was placed on board a ferryboat, which waa diverted from Birkenhead to convey him to the Auckland Hospital, but succumbed before the vessel reached Auckland.

Mr. Pooley resided at Brentwood Avenue, Mount Eden, and ia survived by a grown-up family. He had been employed at the works for 26 years.
