THE RAILWAY AGENTS.
SOUTH ISLAND TOUR. QUESTION OF HEADQUARTERS. [BS " •XBLSCBAPH.—PKKSS ASSOCIATION.] , WELLINGTON. Wodnwaay. It is the intention of the Government -to establish the headquarters of the recently appointed commercial representative of the "Uways for tho South Bland in Christehurch, while the - North Island representative will probably have his headquarters at Palmerstoh North, according to a statement made by the Minister for Railways in the House to-day. Br H T. J. Thacker (Chnstcburch East) had asked why the commercial scent for- the South Island was still stationed in Wellington, whereas to carry cat his-duties he should his headquarters "either at Christchurch or Dunedin. The Hon. D. H. Guthrie said it was intended to locate the South Island agent at Christchurch as soon as possible, -hut it was not easy to take him away -from the headquarters in Wellington at ©nee. He'mentioned that at present both agents were in the South Island. The reason for. this was that it was desired that they should together come in eontact •with the public so that there might be something like uniformity of action in the future. ~
