MYSTERIOUS STABBING.
FOOTBALLERS DRUGGED.
ATTACK AFTER THEATRE. WIFE SEES MURDER. LONDON, Oct. 4. The mysterious murder of Percy Thompson, a young shipping; clerk, in the early hours of the morning, neer his home at Hford, is puzjiling Scotland Yard. Thompson was returning from the theatre with his young wife, when ho was suddenly attacked and stabbed in 14 places, the majority of the wounds being in his back. He died in a few minutes. His wife rushed to a doctor, and when she returned to the body she collapsed and became hysterica}. She was removed to the police station, where she remained all day, and was unable to give a coherent account of the affair. No weapon was found, neither was any trace of tne assailant discovered.
COCAINE AS STIMULANT.
LONDON. Oct. 11. Remarkable evidence was given against members of a football club at Vevey, Switzerland, who were prosecuted for trafficking in cocaine. It is stated that the players took the drug as a stimulant when they were playing matches. As there was no evidence of trafficking, the accused were let off with three days' imprisonment and , small fines.
