ANGLICAN CITY MISSION.
SECOND ANNUAL REPORT.
"NO LONG PSALMS OR LESSONS."
Tho second annual report of the Auck land City Mission was submitted to the Diocesan Synod by the raiseioner, tho Rev. Jasper Calder, ' yesterday. The year's activities, he stated, could be regarded as highly satisfactory. "It has been my ambition," declared Mr. Calder, ** to see that these services are bright end cheerful, there being no rsason why religious worship should be mournful. We aim at congregational singing, and we get it. The joy of not having to wade throu&h long psalms and lessons and stereotyped prayers Sunday after Sunday has been remarked by many." Reference was made to the large orchestra employed and to the mission's weekly journal, the Drifter. An assurance that the missioner'a relations with the bishop and his brother clergy continued to be most friendly was received with laughter.
