POLICE PROMOTIONS.
Advice has been received in Auckland of four promotions in the 'police force. Detect ive-Sergeants R. Ward and A. Hammond, of the local headquarter! staff, have been promoted to senior detectives. Sergeant M. Fleming, chief clerk of the district office, has been promoted to senior-sergeant, and Constable M. E. Hill, who has been stationed for 12 years at Newmarket, has been transferred to Hikurangi, near Whangarei, where he will be officer-in-charge.
