ST. LUKE'B, MOUNT ALBERT,

VALUE OF HIGH IDEALS.

The jiabilee of the opening of St. Luke's Ohttrch, Mount Albert, was celebrated on Sunday' by special services, the preachers being Canon Pcrcival James in the morning, Canon Haoelden, vicar of the church, in the afternoon, and Bishop Averill in the evening. The church was opened on Sunday, September 29,1872, by tho late Bishop Cowie, and was enlarged to its present size when the R«v. John Haßelden was the vicar. The anniversary has always been observed as near as possible to St. Luke'& Day, October 18. Large congregations were present morning and evening extra seating accommodation having to be provided. Bishop Averill congratulated the congregation on having as their vicar at the jubilee the same minister as at the opening of the church 50. years ago. ; Bishop Averill exhorted his hearers to have a. high ideal in life. They should regard these milestones in the church's history not only as a retrospect but in the light of a prospect as well.
