ALLOCATION OF GRANTS.
DISCIPLINE AMONG STUDENTS.
Tho Auckland University College Council met yesterday, the chairman, tho Hon. George Fowlds, presiding. There were also present: Dr, T. W. Leys, Professors A. P. W. Thomas, H. W. 9egar, C. W. Egerton, Messrs. G. "W. Murray, H. J. D. Mahon, Kenneth Mackenzie, J. F. Hosking, and T. U. Wells.' The conditions of appointment of a newregistrar for the college were approved. It was decided to advertise immediately for applicants. On the recommendation of the Education Committee the national endowment grant of £792 was allocated as follows: — Workers' Educational Association, £300; library, £180: scionco laboratories, £IUQ; School of Architecture, £132. The Students' Association wrote asking if it had the power to fine students for small breaches of discipline. Tho association thought that if it had tho power it would have a beneficial effect in'maintaining discipline among the younger section, of the students. The letter was referred to the Professorial Board.
Tha proposal to appoint a full-time classics assistant was approved, and applications for the position are to bo invited.
