CHRIST'S COLLEGE SPORTS. GOOD ALL-ROUND PERFORMANCES • The annual sports of Christ's College, Christchurch, werel held in the Colieflel Ground on Thursday. The sports are keenly contested etch year, but competition, was keener than ever this year, as was evidenced, not only by the results of the various races, but also by the points registered for the champion cups. The eenior champion proved'to be B. O. Talbot, a fine all-round athlete, but ho just got home four' points' in front of . T. B. Sheen. Sheen gained the most points on the day, but Talbot had five points from the five champions "tape to" carry hita through, and by -that meanß he took the Old Boys' Cup with 15 points, as against ' Sheen's 11. W. S. Dalgety was third with 9. Talbot's straight out successes were gained in putting the weight, 120 yds hurdles in KB 3-56, a.nd the fives championship.. Sheen, who is evidently ft smart sprinter, won the 100 yds in 10 4-ss, and the -qtuarer-mile in 65 4-ss. The Junior Cup resulted in a still closer struggle, and eventually it vas won by C. Neil with 6 points, B. S. Smyth and J. E. Finch oach scoring 5 and C. J. Elmes ■4. The House Challenge Cup, which is always eagerly striven for by each house, resulted in School House and South Town tying with 23 points each. Extremely large fields were the order of the day, and there was hardly a race that (was not won in the last few yards only. No records were broken, but in the throwing the cricket ball event A. &■ Joseph, with the wind against him, threw within a few inches of the record, made, in 1890.-when, it-, is understood, wind was behind ; the thrower. Collins, who secured the -captain's trophy and iras also successful in the bogey handicap and the mixed foursomes Clements, the scratch man; won the men's • foursomes, and was runner-typ for- the captain's tTophy.
