CRUSHED BETWEEN LOGS.
BUSH WORKER KILLED, l»T TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA. B»turd»ar A. Macpherson, a married man aged 40 years, was killed this morning. He was crushed between two logs in the bush at Mangorewa where he was employed by the National Timber Company. An inquest was held at Ngongot&ha before Mr. M. Afar tin, coroner, and a jury of four. The evidence showed that deceased and a man named Wilson were placing logs on skids on the National Timber Company's tramline preparatory to cutting. While adjusting the gear under the skids a log slipped on the greasy surface and Mr. Macpherson's head was caught between two logs. Seeing that his companion was severely injured Mr. Wilson hastened to the camp two and a-half miles away for assistance, but when a party arrived Mr. Macpherson was dead. A verdict of accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone, was returned. Mr. Macpherson leaves a wife and two children.
