The Wellington City Council has received a communication from th© Kelburn-Karori Tramway Company . intimating that the shareholders have agreed, subject to a poll of tho ratepayers being carried, to accept the council's offer of £45,000 for the purchase of the cable tramway undertaking. It is likely that a poll of tho ratepayers on the matter will bo held in about two months' time. The roll is now being prepared. Several matters have to be determined in connection with the acquisition of the tramway by the corporation. Among these are the questions of improved access to the Kelburn tram station from Lambton Quay and the probable cost of constructing a tram line ajong Upland Road, Kelburn, to connect with tho lino at the Karon Tunnel, as well as the cost of providing a new viaduct to carry tho lino over Karori Road.
The Mayor, Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., announced to-day that as Booh as he had definite information on these matters he would make a public statement concerning the whole position from tho City Council's standpoint.
