THE MARSDEN SEAT.
EEFOEM CANDIDATE CHOSEN SELECTION OF ME. JONES. [B2 TKLKOSAPH. —OWN COJUftESPONIDENT.] WHANGAKEI. Friday. The final choice of a Reform candidate fof the Marsden seat was made to-day." With tho retirement of Mr. Morrison, who withdrew on medical advice, three Reform candidates, Colonel Maokesy and Messrs. A. H. Curtis and W. Jones, were left in the field. A conference, consisting of three representatives of each of these three candidates and three representatives of the Reform League was held to-<iay. Before the proceedings began all the members of the conference agreed to abide by the decision of the meeting. A series of ballots Were taken with the result that Ckrlonel Mackesy and Mr. Curtis were ultimately eliminated, Mr. Jones thus becoming the accepted Government candidate. Mr. Jonts is chairman of the Whangarei County Council.

Andrew wouLJ be the Reform candidate for tho Himmui seat at the coming election. In Mr. Andrew the Reform Party has secured a strong candidate. He has a long record of public service is tho district and is a very highly respected settler. For 14 years ho was a member of tho Kaikoura County Coumcil and a leading spirit in the public affairs of th® district. As ■ a member of the North Canterbury Hospital -Board he was instrumental in securing the excellent hospital buildings that Kaikoura possesses. THE WAIKATO SEAT. KAWHIA SOUTH'S CHOICE. (BV TEiLEGRATH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] KAWHIA. Friday. Enthusiastic gatherings- of Kawhia \Sc.uth electors on Tuesday and Thursday unanimously pledged themselves to support Mr. A. G. Dent as tho candidate in the Reform interests for the Waikato seat. Telegrams havo been sent to the . Primo Minister urging that Mr. Dent be recognised as tho official Government candidate. Sir. Dent has been promhient in local body matters. He is a member of the Kawhia County Council and Waikato . Hospital Board and ohairman of tJ;e Oparou Dairy Company. Ho took a leading part in all patriotic movements during ' the war.
