BLAZE AT DEVONPORT.

DWELLING BADLY DAMAGED.

DESTRUCTION AVERTED.

An outbreak of fire occurred in a sevenroomed wooden house, situated on the slope of Mount Victoria, in Church Street, Devonport, at about 4.30 p.m.. yesterday. The dwelling, owned and occupied by Mr. G. Blandford, was severely damaged. The fire, which apparently started in a wood-pile in the basement, spread rapidly to tho house, Which is two utoreyed at. the front and one storeyed at the back. Soma of the furniture was saved by tho brigade, who succeeded in confining the flames almost entirely to the lower floor.

The house is insured for £300 in the British Traders' Office, and for £200 in the Atlas Office, while the furniture is covered by a policy for £200 in the former office.
