ROTORUA VALUATIONS.
CONSIDERED EXCESSIVE. f>T TELEGRAPH.—PRESS , ASSOCIinttOK.} SOTOEUA, Thuwdaj. The Rotorua Chamber of Commerce has decided to protest against what are . considered excessive valuations by the Government valuer of leaseholds which the lessees wish changed to the freehold. A block for which there is a 70 years' lease recently fetched £2000, and is assessed at £10,000 on the capital value. Another sold tw.o years ago for £2000 and is assessed at £6400. ; Applicants have no right of appeal againt the valuations. The chamber is asking Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P., to urge the Government to grant redress.
