SUDDEN DEATHS IN. CITY.

EXPIRES IN TURKISH BATHS. MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN'S END A woman was found dead in a bath at the Turkish Baths in Lome Street about eleven o'clpck on Wednesday morning. Deceased, Miss Mabel Torr, entered a bathroom about 10 a.m., and some time 'later water was seen running from underneath the door. As the proprietor could get no door was broken open, deceased being found in the hath, which was full of water. Medical aid was obtained, but life was extinct.' Deceased, who was middle-aged, resided in Arthur Street, Ponsonby, and is believed to have had relatives in ~nd. j At an inquest opened by Mr. J. E. Wilson. S.M., evidence was given that Miss Torr had rented a flat in Arthur Street, Ponsonby, for about six weeks. During the last week she had seemed worried, and her nerves were in.a bad state. She had left the I house about 8.50 a.m. that day saying she was going to the Turkish Baths. liyher room was found a letter from an Auckland firm of solicitors addressed to her at Napier. The inquiry was adjourned.] FALLS DEAD IN HOTEL. WHARF LABOURER SUCCUMBS. A wharf labourer. Mr. Henry Westphal, aged 51, died suddenly at the Criterion Hotel about eleven o'clock on Wednesday morning. Deceased entered the hotel, had a glass of beer and some counter lunch, and was sitting on a seat in the bar when be fell forward on the floor and expired. He was a single man and resided with his brother, Mr. Carl Westphal, in Wellesley Street. The latter gave evidence at the inquest which was opened bv Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M., to the effect that deceased's health had been indifferent for some years, and he was subject to fainting seizures. The inquest was adjourned sine die. • ,
