Young (Waikato) in the House yesterday whether he had considered the matter of introducing legislation in th» direction of providing that where » majority of residents within a defined area petitioned a Hospital Board to estate lish a maternity hospital on a basis of local voluntary contributions of money and service, and such petition had not been entertained, the local authority might, on a further similar petition from the residents, and with the consent of the ratepayers concerned, take steps to create a special-rating district and establish a local maternity hospital. In the event of this matter having been considered the member wished to know the Minister's decision and action. Jht Minister will reply later.
