ENTERTAINMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. A new programme will ,be presented at the Opera House for the first time to-day. Filler's Wonders, a band of 11 juvenile acrobats, will present a spect-iculnr turn. Signor and Signorina Molinari, the Italian operatic singers, will give a new programme. Other artists appearing are Will J. Saunders, Babs Pacey, the Milton brothers, Hyman Lenzer, Frank Perrin, and Louis Bloy. The English comedian. Harry ThuTston, the original of Bairnsfather's war character, " 'Ole Bill," will commence his season next Monday. SISTINE CHOIR SOLOISTS. The New Zealand tour of the Sistine Choir soloists will commence At Auckland on Wednesday, September 27, when the first concert will be given in the Town Hall. Of these famous singers, an Australian critic says : "Although intimately associated with the traditions, of ecclesiastical song their pei-fection of attack, variety of tone and startling effects of crescendo and diminuemb are so unlike anything heard from other famous choirs that one gets a clearly defined impression of drama in music. * The effect is elec trifying." The Sistine Choir soloists include five tenors, two baritones and two. basses, all of whom have won enthusiastic applause in the most critical art centres of Europe, and have added to their kurels in Buenos Aires, C'jiro. and the East. These distinguished artists will be heard in programmes of variety, ranging from liturgical numbers to oratorio, and embracing a wide range of operatic and folklore songs. The concerted numbers will have the association of a full operatic orchestra. Tho box plans open at Lewis R. Eady and Son on Friday morning «.t 9 o'clock, TIVOLI THEATRE. The new double bill at the Tivoli Theatre attracted many spectators at the week-end, and created great popular interest. One of the principal Paramount pictures shown is, "Find The Woman," the story that concerns a mysterious murder, which it takes all the ingenuity at the command of the police to solve. A'™a Rubens plays artistically and with emotional power in the chief character, and there is a strong supporting cast. "The P'aything of Broadway" is a sumptuous production depicting scenes in gay circles in New York. Justine Johnson plays the role of a beautiful dancer who seeks to enmesh the affections of an austere ydtaig medical man. Other good films are on the same bill.

EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. Exciting incidents in connection with the revolution in Russia are featured in The World and The Woman." now the principal attraction at Everybody's Theatre. The' chief parts are in the capable hands of Geraldine Farrar and Lou Tellegen, as a prima donna and a prince respectively. Together they encounter many sensational adventures. NEW LYRIC THEATRE. The dramatic and spectacular film. "Habit," which is the principal attraction on the current programme at the New Lyric Theatre,' appealed strongly to large audiences at the week-end. Mildred Harris plays the role of a girl who has been brought up in luxury and finds that her habit of spending money on expensive clothes leads her into many difficulties. i GRAND THEATRE. Considerable interest is being shown by picture-goers in the quaint old South American story told so graphically in "The Prodigal Judge." which is the principal feature on the current programme at the Grand Theatre. Though it is a tale of simple folks, the theme ranges from homely comedy to sensational drama. There are excellent supporting films. SCOTTISH CONCERT. A Scottish concert, under the auspices of the Auckland Caledonian Society, was gsv*n at the Town Hall concert chamber on Saturday evening; The programme mid a meritorious one," and was thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience. Miss Laura Stone proved a very popular vocalist, receiving three encores for her singing of the favourite, "The Land o' The Leal." Her other programme number was "John Gumlie." Mrs. Paterson was also warmly received for her Eong, and her duet with Mr. Robert Brodie, "Scots Wha Hae," was very successful. Mr. Brodie's solo item was "Star o' Rabbie Barns." Much applause was won by Mr. Peter Dawson for hi 3 dramatic recitals, "Shooting of Dan McGrew." and "Wilfred Denver's Dream." Mr. Wightman McCoomb provided plenty of' comedy with monologues, an . instrumental item and a song- Some very clever dances were given. , Misses Vera Rider and Mavis Travarthan gave a sword dance in good style, whilo a clever item was a reel o* tulloch. danced by Misses Marie McGregor and Dorothy Dickenson, and Masters R. Scorgie and A. McGregor. Other dance:-; were a seah truibhais by Miss Nancy Niven and a Highland feel by Misses Mavis Harris, Isabel Darby, Ruby Cave and Ruby Phillips. An acceptable violin solo was played by Master Paterson, while the Auckland Pipe Band played a selection. The concert closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Miss Thelma Gallagher was accompanist.

MUNICIPAL ORGAN RECITAL. An enjoyable programme was submitted by' the city organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, at the organ recital at the Town Hall on Saturday. Rossini's famous overture to "William Tell" was a popular number, while "Fantasie in ,E flat" (Saint-Saens) also was very well received. Two other fine pieces were. "Grand Solemn March"' (Smart), and "Intermezzo" (Vierne). The organist also played "Arietta" (Basil Harwood), "Spring Song" (Mendelssohn), and "Fan- ■ fare" (Lemmens). Mr. Douglas W. Russell completelv won his audience with his singing of "The Pagan" (Lohr) and "The Poet's Life" (Elgan). His first encore numbar, "Under the Wide and Starry Sky," was also a fine effort. Mr. Leo Whittaker was accompanist.
