PROGRESS OF WEST TAMAKI.

MAIN ROAD PROPOSALS. The Tamaki West Road Board met at St. Hellers Bay on Thursday eveninn, the chairman, Mr. M. G. McArthur, presiding. An offer was received of a loan, of £21,300 for 36J years at 6 per cent. Tba board decided to accept the offer and to apply £4800 in payment of "antecedent liability'' and the balance of £16.500 in the laying down of an asphalt road from the city boundary to Kohimarama and St. Heliers Say, tenders to be called for the firßt section of the work forthwith. The chairman reported that a, wellattended and very enthusiastic meeting of the ratepayers on the Tamaki Rtver side of the district was held, at which the pohoy o£ the board was placed before the meeting, particularly in regard to the main road proposal. This included remetalling and widening of Bide roads and streets, the formation of a borough with a separate ward for that portion of the district, and. the extension of electrio lighting throughout the Tamaki West district. The meeting unanimously approved all the proposals. The board decided to hold similar meetings at Kohinmra'm* and ■ Ofc. Heliarn . Ba/ at an early date. ■ . '■ -', The drainage engineer reported that his estimatos in connection with the dr; mage scheme were completed, with tho exception of that portion dealing with the outfall. Pending, a conference with the Drainage jßoaTd. with a view to making some arrangement for connecting the drainage system with the Orakei sewer. . , , The electrical engineer s rejort showed that the electric light had already been metalled in 222 houses, as well as all the principal streets in St. Hebeis Bay and Kohimarama. _
