MINING NEWS.

WAIHI. LAST MONTH'S RETURN. The Waihi Goldmining Company during the period ended August 6 crushed and treated 15,342 tons oj ore for a return of 44190z of fine gold and 29.5770z of silver. In the oorreaponding period of last year 13,950 tons of ore yielded 403302 of gold and 42,0840z of silver.

The following information has been cabled to the head office of the company in London: —No. 12 level, Edward lode, south of crosscut: In the crosscut at 75ft this next 20ft is worth 10s 9d a ton. Edward .lode, north from crosscut: We are crosscutting the lode at 75ft. Measuring from the centre of the level the first 10ft to the west is a mixture of quartz and country worth 3s 6d a ton. and the first ISiffc to the east is worth 14s 9d a ton. Cow crosscut; In tho crosscut at 100 ft the nwet 20ft is worth 18s a ton. Martha lode, north suction, west: The next 77ft of driving is worth 18s 6d a ton. No. 13 level: The Martha lode, in the north section, east of No. 4 shaft crosscut, the next 44ft of driving is worth 27s 9d a ton.
