STOCKS AND SHARES.

There was good demand for investment stocks yesterday on the Auckland sharemarket. In Government litiee Inscribed Stock, 1938 and 1939, changed hands at £95 xOs, late buyers offering 5s less, with no sellers. Soldiers' Loan (inscribed stock) cold at £99 ss, at which price more were wanted, no late sellers quoting. In debenture stocks theire were buyers of Auckland Gas 6£ per cents and Auckland Harbour Board 6 per cents at £100 10s, and of City of Auckland 6-i per cente at £92, no sellers of either quoting. There was a buyer of German marks at 4500- to the £, but" no selling quotation. In banks several parcels of New Zealand* sold at 56s and 56» 3d, more being looked for at tho latter price, sellers closing at 56s 6d. Nationals had sellers at £5 19s, buyers £5 17s. In gas Aucklands (paid up) were done at 22s Bd. In shipping business was I done in Huddart-Park»rs (ord.) at 49s 9d, and ui Northern Steams (paid up) at 13s. Buyers of P. and O.'s (deferred stock) were offering £302, sellers £320. In miscellaneous lines buyers of Colonial Sugar (Australia) came in at last call at £33 10s, sellers asking £34 10s. For Fiji and New Zealand issue buyers quoted £9 18s 6d, but there v/ere no sellers. Milne and Choyce debenture stock sold at 22s 9d. National Pictures at 15s 6d, and Wilsons Cements at 18s lOd. In mining Waihis changed hands at 28s 6d, witli late sellers at same figure, buyers 28s 4d. Grand Junctions at 9s 2d were looked for at 8s 9d.
