AUSTRALIAN SUGAR DEAL.
MO RECORD OF TRANSACTIONS A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE. Aue 16. The joint committee on public accounts has opened an inquiry into the sugar transactions of the Commonwealth Government. One witness stated that after the appointment of the Commonwealth Sugar Board the whole of the purchases, local and foreign, were 'made by the Colonial Company, and that no record was kept of the transactions of the Government, which was dependant for information on figures supplied by the company.
