The Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Mackenzie King, has requested the Canadian railway companies to defer reduction of wages or to restore the previous rates pending the decision of the Government Conciliation Board. The workers claimed that the reduction was made while their appeal to the board was pending. The Prime Minister states that there can be no guarantee of industrial peace or preservation ol law if parties to industrial disputes place their own interpretation on Acts of Parliament passed fcr the purpose of avoiding strikes. ________
