<«• — SUPREME COURT OPENS.' [by telegraph.—own coeeespondent.] HAMILTON. Tuesday. The sessions of the Supremo Court opened before Mr. Justice Herdman today. In making his charge to the grand jury, His Honor said that it was with some satisfaction that he was able to announce there was only a small number of cases. It was apparent that crime was not life in the district at present. The most serious case was that in which four men were charged with seriously assaulting two inoffensive men ab Kopaki. A the story told by the Crown witnesses was true, then a moet cowardly and unjustiUable attack had been made upon two inoffensive members of tho community. On a charge of unlawful carnal knowledge at Taumaruiiui, Georgo Patrick McLaclilan (Mr. Strang) was found not guilty and was discharged.
