ASSAULT ON A REFEREE.
SUSPENSION OF GROUND. PROTEST FROM SHANNON. [BS TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday. A meeting of the Shannon Rugby Football Club decided not to play in the senior and third grade matches set down for to-morrow as a protest against the action cf the Horowhenua Union in suspending tho Shannon ground consequent on a referee being assaulted last week. Members of the club and of the public cf Shannon were appointed to wait on the union to proteet against its action.
