FRENCHMAN LEADS FIELD.
KIRKWOOD'S INTENTIONS.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association(Reed. 7 5 p.m.) LONDON, May 10 In tho £1000 professional golf tournament at- St. Andrew's, Boomer, the French champion, is leading with a score of 150. Tho runners up are S. Wingate 151, Gatld and E. Ray 153 each, G audi a 154, and Massy 155.
J. 11. Kirkwood, tho Australian golfer, is fit, and has gono to Lossiemouth to play in McVitie and Price's tournament, which commences on Monday. Tho competition consists of four rounds, and will be decided on stroke play- Tho entry is much smaller than at Oxhey, in 1921, henco thero will bo no qualifying rounds, which Kirkwood would have preferred, owing to his lack of practice since he left tho Unitod States. Interviewed on behalf of the Australian and Now Zealand Press Association, Kirkwood said that ho was surprised, but was not worrying over tho absence of Australian advices as to whether ho could definitely regard himself as Australian's chosen representative in tho open championship. He had temporarily overcome the absence of a remitftanco from tho fund raised in Australia. Ho hoped to strike form before Monday, though he would have preferred a week's practice before the tournament.
