WOMAN WITHOUT A HOME.
SEVEN DAYS' IMPRISONMENT. " This woman came to the watchhouss last night and asked to be locked up, said Senior-Sergeant Pav.le, when Mary Jane Rutherford, aged 36, appeared before Mr. J. W. Poynrx>n, S-M-, m the Police Court yesterday, on a charge of vagrancy The Senior-Sergeant stated that accused said she had become drunk on Tuesday, after finding that during her absence her husband had sold up the house. She slept out on Tuesday night. _ Accuscd was sentenced to seven aajs hard labour.
ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Henry Edward Marsh was charged with having obtained £15 10s by means of a valueless cheque, having obtained credit to the extent of £22 4s by fraud; and having obtained goods and cash, valued at £o by means of a valueless cheque. Accused waa romanded for a week, bail being fixed at £500.
