ALLEGED MOTOR-CAE THEFT
REMAND TO CHRISTCHURCH. NOT RETURNED AFTER HIRE A charge of having stolen a motor-car valued at £300 at Christchurch in "November 1920, -was preferred against Albert Cimdy," aged 22, in the Police Court yesterday. before Mr. J. W. Poynton S.M. Accused was remanded to appear at Chnstchurch next Thurcday. In opposing bail, Chief-Detective Mcllvenev said that accused had been in company with pickpockets in Chnstchurch and had attempted to bail one out. The other man was bailed and absconded. However, he was arrested at Adelaide, extradited, and subsequently sentenced. Accused left the country, but was arrested on the Ulimaroa on Wednesday by Detective-Sergeant Ward. Bail was refused. It is alleged that accused hired the motor-car, and, instead of returning it to the owner, sold ifc and proceeded to Australia
