Three charges ! were laid against Cudby of attempting to I break and enter the premises of George ! ,-vnd George, breaking into St. Mark's | Church with intent to commit a crime, ! and breaking and entering the premises of W. EL Tiadale and stealing 11 revolvers and 70C rounds of ammunition Witnesses called by the Crown Prosecutor gave evidence that an unsuccessful attempt had been made to enter the premises of George and George on the night of April 2, and that upon a panes of glass removed from a back window finger-prints were found. The glass was forwarded to the office of the Criminal Investigation Department. In the case of St. Mark's Church, entry was effected through a window, and a considerable amount of damage was done, j When the vicar, the Bev. C. F. Askew, visited the church in the morning he found the safe had been blown open and surplices und other vestments, apparently used to deaden the sound of the explosion, were strewn about the floor of one of the church rooms. However, the safe door had jammed, and no money had been abstracted, though damage to the extent of about £30 had been done. More fingerprints were found on a pane of glass removed from one of the windows at the back of the church. The entry to Tisdale's premises was discovered on the morning of April 10. when a fanlight over the back door was found to have been broken and the door was open. Finger-prints were discovered on broken glass from the fanlight. Cadlty was not arrested until some time after the commission of the offences. None of tiie stolen articles had been recovered. Semr.r-Serzeant Dinnie. Criminal Investigation Department, and finger-print expert, stated that a comparison of threio sets of prints found witty those of the accused showed similarities, which he considered unmistakable proof of the prisoner's guilt. Cndbv was found sraHty of breaking and entering and remanded for sentence unt.il to-morrow. Mr. Justice Heed said if during that time Cndbv would state what became of the missing revolvers it would mr>ke a difference in the sentence. He did not like the idea of so many revolvers beinsr about.
