MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.

The first meeting of the Mount Roskill Road Board aince the election of members •was held on Tuesday evening. Mr. G. E. Tansley was re-elected chairman and presided. There were also present Messrs. J. J Preston. S. Scarborough. J. Pect, H. Luke, E. i. Herd and S. iiamou A deputation of ratepayers from trie Islington estate waited on the board in support of a petition for a water supply. They asked the board to extend the water to the area bounded by Mount Albert on the west. Mount Eden on the north. Lovers Lano on the east and the Mount AlbertOnehunga road on the south. The petitioners expressed their willingness to pay whatever rate was necessary to meet interest and j sinking fund. The board decided to take immediate steps to give effect to the petition. Information was received from Mr. W. E. Bush, city engineer, that Mr. T. W. May had offered to transfer to the City Council for the purpose of dedication as a part of a public street a portion of his property situated at the corner of The Drive and Selwyn Road, Epsom, to enable the council to set the angle of the road to a curve of 60ft. radius. Mr. Bush said he had advised the council to accept Mr. May's offer. His reason for communicating with the board was to suggest that opportunity should be taken to improve that portion of The Drive which junctions with Selwyn Road and which is under the control of the City Council and the Road Board. The cost was estimated nt £400. Mr. Bush further intimated the desirability of tarring a portion of St. Andrew's and Selwyn Roads and The Drive by the two bodies. The letter was i referred to the Works Committee for consideration. It was reported .that the shelter Bhcd at Greenwood's Corner, which is in the One Tree H'll district, would have to be removed when the One Tree Hill Road Board paved its portion of Mamikau Road with concrete. The question of a suitable site and the cost of removal wnfl loft in the hands of the chairmen of the respective boards. It was decided bv ballot that Messrs. Tansley, Preston and Luke should be the three members to retire from the board next year.
