AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.
ACTIVITY IN THE COUNTRY. There is every prospect that the Auckland Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association will hav o another satisfactory year. At Ohaupo tho lectures hav e been well attended, and the members will be examined shortly. At Ptikemiro the miners have taken up the work enthusiastically, 30 having given ii« their names as members. A class of ladies has been formed at Thames, and it is anticipated that tho lectures will bo commenced next week.
At Matam.iLa the ladies who paused in first aid last year are to attend the lectures or. home nursing. This is a most important course, especially in country districts, "where trained nurses are not available. Tho new text book for this course .has been prepared by Nurse Mildred Heather-Bigg, matron of Charing Cross Hospital. The rules of the association have been altered, so that ladies who have not passed the first aid examination may now attend tho lectures on home nursing. Last evening. Dr. Roid gave the first lecturo on first aid to the injured to between 30 and 40 ladies at tihe Ambulance Station, Rutland Street. Veiy good first aid classes are being Formed at tho Auckland and Epsom Girls' Grammar Schools, also smaller classes for homo nursing. Classes are in course of formation at NgaruawahJa, Pukekohe, Waiuku, Cambridge, and To Awaniutu, also a class for men at the Ambulance St-auion, in Rutland Street.
