CORNWALL PARK RATING.

PROTEST BY T*HE RATEPAYERS The subject of the rating of Cornwall Part was brought before the annual meetin? of the ratepayers of the One Tree Hill Head district last evening by the chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, whose report stated that, while the board was in every wav sympathetic with the administrators of the park, yet the fact, had to be borne in mind that the park was donated to the citizens of New Zealand, not to the ratepayers of One Tree Hill. In view of the fact that at present over £290,000 worth of properties* were exempted from rates the board had recorded their protest arainst any further reductions. The meeting passed a resolution emphatically protesting against the legislation passed during last session empowering the Valuer "General to reduce tho capital value of the Cornwall Park estate, and called upon the Government to repeal the provisions of the Act.
