The South Wales coal trade shows a marked improvement, though the owners continue to fare badly. The disposab'e [surplus over standard profits in March amounted to £227,837, of which the owners are entitled, under the settlement agreement, to 17 per cent. As .the balance is not sufficient to pay the agreed minimum wages the owners sacrificed their share of the surplus, also giving £171.371 from the standard profits, which increased their loss wince November to £1,500,000.
